Father Edward Vebelun, OSB

Pastor

What are your responsibilities at Holy Family School?

l offer the school Mass regularly and work with the students and teachers to prepare it. I try to visit classrooms at least every two weeks. I am able to enjoy an occasional kickball game as well. Since I am the pastor, I also serve on the HFS School Board and strive to represent HFS in the larger community.

What do you enjoy the most about connecting with Holy Family School?

I really enjoy the Masses and special prayer events, because I feel the students have a deep connection to God that inspires me to pray from the heart. I am really proud to be part of the school because I feel that we are helping our children grow into all the fullness that God has called them to be.

Hobbies:

In the winter I love cross country skiing. In the other seasons I enjoy cycling and running. Whenever I have free time I love to spend it with my brother monks at St. John's and to enjoy the lakes and woods there.

Family:

My mother, three sisters and brother live in Eastern Ohio. I am able to visit them once or twice a year. We are close and enjoy being together.

Anything else you would like people to know?

The two things I love most about being a priest are (1) the feeling that everything I do, I do in service to God, and (2) the privilege of being part of some of the most important moments in people's lives. I feel fortunate because I get to know such a variety of people here, of all ages and varying personalities. There are over 5,000 members in the Harvest of Hope Catholic Community, and I am able to spend each day with at least some of them.
